The women of Latin Alternative quartet LADAMA open the set with their own music ("a vivid montage of music of the Americas with irresistible spirit and universal appeal” – NPR) and then join the Guatemalan-born singer-songwriter Gaby Moreno (Latin Grammy Winner and Emmy-Nominated composer to the music to Parks and Recreation) and the Grammy-nominated chamber orchestra Metropolis Ensemble (Elinor Rufeizen, guest conductor) to perform music from ¡Spangled!. Just released this fall, Moreno's collaborative Nonesuch album with American musician, songwriter, arranger and producer Van Dyke Parks celebrates the migration of song across the Americas and spans more than a century, including a bolero from Panama, a bossa nova from Brazil and anelegiac ballad from the Southwest United States. The award-winning cuatro player, mandolinist and musical producer Jorge Glem – one of Venezuela’s musical treasures – will join Gaby for several songs.
